The Wilmington University Library offers research consultation services for students. A research consultation is an in-depth, customized, one-on-one meeting with a librarian to discuss possible information resources and search strategies for class assignments, papers, presentations, Masters theses, and doctoral dissertations.
How Do I Schedule a Research Consultation?
Simple! Book your research consultation here by following the prompts. Consultations are currently being conducted over the phone or online using web conferencing software (Zoom). If you need immediate assistance, you can use our Chat service or call the main library at 1-800-451-5724.
What to Expect From a Research Consultation?
During your consultation, the librarian will help you identify sources of information, instruct you on how to use library databases and other sources for your topic, help you develop advanced search strategies and document retrieval appropriate for your topic.
How Does the Consultation Service Work?
For students, you will need to have a topic to research. You may choose to meet with the librarian for 30 or 60 minutes at a time. Consultations consist of an in-depth discussion with a librarian so they can identify relevant sources of information for your topic. We cannot do your research for you, but we can suggest appropriate sources and give you instruction on search strategies.
Who Can Use the Research Consultation Service?
Students can request an individual orientation or faculty members can request individual assistance or an orientation for a class.
When Is the Research Consultation Service Available?
Librarians are currently available to meet with students over the phone or online (using Zoom - a web conferencing software). To view the most days and times we are available, choose "No Preference" for staff member when booking the consultation.
