Locating Dissertations and Theses You Don’t Have to Pay For

After the workshop participants will be able to:

  • Be able to access Wilmington University capstones, dissertations, and theses online
  • Comprehend how to search ProQuest for abstracts and 20 page previews of these materials
  • Understand how to locate and use PQDT to find open access dissertations and theses from among the 800,000+ available digitally
  • Be able to request a dissertation or thesis via Interlibrary loan if it is not available full text online

Streaming Videos to Support Education

    

After the workshop participants will:

  • Be able to locate videos that are free to use for personal and educational use and offered by Academic Video Online by Alexander Street
  • Understand how to embed these AVON videos into a Canvas course
  • Know which Kanopy and Films on Demand videos are available and know where to locate the current titles

Locate Those Classics (as eBooks) That You Always Intended to Read!

After the workshop participants will:

  • Be able to access the 25 classics offered by EBSCO including works by Dickens, Longfellow, and Melville.
  • Be familiar with how to locate free eBooks using HathiTrust, many published before 1930, including Pride and Prejudice, Call of the Wild, and The Scarlet Letter
  • Comprehend how to use ProQuest Ebooks to locate fiction titles including: Little Women; Mary Shelley’s The Last Man, Uncle Tom’s Cabin, Red Badge of Courage, Kidnapped, Oscar Wilde in Context, Sons and Lovers by D.H Lawrence, etc.

Tired of your TV options? Try these videos!

       

After the workshop participants will:

  • Be able to access the 20+ videos available from Swank including: Apollo 13, Casablanca, Precious, and Philadelphia
  • Understand how to locate the Ambrose videos offering a selection of Shakespeare plays and videos covering U.S. military history and Western art
  • Be able to search and watch AVON videos from the Royal Shakespeare company, CNN, 60 Minutes, PBS, and Sony Picture Classics, among others
  • Comprehend how to embed AVON videos in Canvas
