Research Consultation

The Wilmington University Library offers research consultation services for students. A research consultation is an in-depth, personalized, one-on-one session with a librarian to explore information resources and search strategies for your class assignments, papers, presentations, master’s theses, or doctoral dissertations.

How Do I Schedule a Research Consultation?

It's easy! Book your research consultation here by following the prompts. Consultations are available by phone, online via Zoom, or in-person at the New Castle Campus Library or Dover Learning Commons. For immediate assistance, you can use our chat service or call the main library at 1-800-451-5724 during regular hours: https://www.wilmu.edu/library/locations.aspx

What to Expect From a Research Consultation?

During your consultation, the librarian will help you identify relevant sources, demonstrate how to use library databases and other research tools, and guide you in developing advanced search strategies and document retrieval techniques tailored to your topic.

How Does the Consultation Service Work?

Before your consultation, you should have a research topic ready. During the session, you’ll work one-on-one with a librarian to get guided assistance in finding relevant sources and developing search strategies for future use. While we won’t conduct the research for you, we can recommend appropriate resources and offer advice on effective search techniques.

Who Can Use the Research Consultation Service?

Students can request an individual orientation or faculty members can request individual assistance or an orientation for a class.

When Is the Research Consultation Service Available?

Librarians are currently available to meet with students over the phone, online (using Zoom - a web conferencing software), or in-person at our New Castle and Dover sites. Go to the booking form to view our availability and make an appointment.
