Using ILLiad to Get Materials from Other Libraries

What is Interlibrary Loan?

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a retrieval service in which the Library will borrow articles, books, etc. for you from other libraries that are not owned in print or online. Use the ILLiad system to place your request.

Important: Copyright

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials.

Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research". If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use", that user may be liable for copyright infringement.

This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.

Placing a Request

Requests can be made two ways:
  1. Through a database such as Ebscohost, ProQuest or Discovery. This will pre-fill the item’s information into the request form.
Use this method if you are already searching within a database or if you do not have the item’s full information.

  2. Directly through ILLiad using a blank form.
Use this if you already have the item’s specific information. Log in below to make a request. More information on making requests can be found under the Using ILLiad tab.
